Gabrielle (Gabby) Wade
Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach
Gabby graduated from River Ridge High School in 2006. She was a 4 year varsity basketball letter athlete, a three year varsity track letter athlete, and a two year varsity volleyball letter athlete. For basketball she was awarded Daily Olympian Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, Pac-9 League Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, First Team Tacoma News Tribune 2005 and 2006, First Team All- State in 2005, Second Team All-State in 2006, MVP of the Pac 9 League in 2006, and competed in the Washington-Oregon All-Star game in 2006. The basketball team won three consecutive league and district titles and made three state appearances, placing second in 2005 and fifth in 2006. From 2006-2011 she attended Western Washington University on a basketball scholarship. Her team made three regional appearances in 2006, 2008, and 2011. They were the league champions for the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference in 2011. She was named team captain for the 2010-2011 season. She was also named Honorable Mention for the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference in 2011.
Gabby was the JV girls’ basketball coach at River Ridge High School from 2011-2013. Then she went on to be the assistant women’s basketball coach at Pacific Lutheran University from 2013-2015. During this time Gabby was also playing semi-pro basketball and coaching AAU basketball with Excel Sports Academy. In 2016, Gabby became the head girls’ basketball coach at River Ridge High School. She is committed to teaching these athletes about life through basketball.
Gabby’s first season with the Lady Hawks was in 2016, they finished 17-7. The second season the Lady Hawks faced many adverse situations but we went on a seven game winning streak and ended up losing in the third round of districts finishing the season 10-13. Coach is really excited for the upcoming 2018-2019 season, we have a plethora of young and eager athletes on the team.
Angelo (AJ) Harris
Assistant Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach
Angelo is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dover High School then earned a scholarship to Delaware State University and studied health and physical education.
Angelo spent 15 years as the Field and Training Camp security in Seattle for the Sounders FC and for the Seahawks.
Angelo has coached AAU and high school boys’ basketball for over 30 years. Angelo was an assistant coach with the boys’ basketball program at Lakes High School and Steilacoom High School when they won a State Championship. Angelo has been coaching girls’ basketball for the last three years a River Ridge High School. He loves giving back to the youth of today, “I am your champion!” #Hardwork – whatever you do in life!
JV Girls’ Basketball Coach
Ashley graduated high school from Auburn High School in 2004. She was 3 year varsity basketball letter athlete. From 2004-2006 she attended Highline Community College on a basketball scholarship. Here she was named team Captain, Most Inspirational, and All HCC Athlete. From there, she transferred to Cascade College in Portland, Oregon; NAIA DII. There she received her Bachelors of Science for Business Administration with a minor in Communications.
In 2008, after schooling, Ashley became a mother to her daughter, Kaelani Adams. She choose the insurance industry to begin her full time career. Currently working from home for an Insurance agency based out of Chicago, Illinois. Ashley began coaching Junior Varsity for Auburn High School in 08-09 season. She worked there for 4 seasons, before beginning volunteer coaching for her daughter. With her new work schedule, Ashley decided coaching High School again in the 17-18 seasons for River Ridge High School. She is dedicated to building a program that creates a legacy for the players to remember for their life time.
