    • Grade checks will be every 2 weeks.
    • Absent from school (even 1 period) can not practice that day (or compete if there is a meet)

  • Everyone is expected to compete…This is a Gymnastics TEAM not a class. Those who are interested in only “practicing” should enroll in a class outside of the school TEAM.

  • Gymnasts must have at least 15 practices in before they are eligible to compete in their first meet.

  • Coaches will assist with choreography of routines but gymnasts may be required to make up parts of their routines by themselves.

  • At Meets
    • Come prepared with your entire uniform!
      • Backpacks
      • Jacket and Pants

      • Hair fixed with matching bow or ribbon
      • Sports bra (must be white, beige, black, or same color of the leotard)
      • Bring a drink and some snacks! (long bus rides and meets)
      • Stay with the team at all times! No wandering around the school grounds!
      • Buses to competitions will usually leave from River Ridge around 3:30pm and return around 10:30-11:00pm.
        • Need to find own rides to and from RRHS
        • Parents please pick up on time after meets!
        • If you are planning on taking your child home after a meet they must get it approved through the school first (before the meet) and get the signed note from the school to give to the coach.
        • Good Sportsmanship!
          • Help teams put equipment away at all meets!
          • Be polite to other teams and gymnasts—cheer them on too!
          • Don’t complain about scores—they will often be inconsistent—that’s the gymnastics world!
          • Do Your Best!
          • Have FUN!

  • Varsity will have approximately 8 meets plus post season meets.

  • JV will have at least 1 meets which is a JV only meet. JV girls may also have a chance to compete in a Varsity meet on one or two events. Coaches will tell gymnasts in advance if they will be competing in an upcoming Varsity meet. JV gymnasts are expected to travel with the Varsity girls to meets to cheer them on, support the team, and learn from the competitions.

  • Fundraiser Clinic for grades K-6th will be either on MLK Jr. Day or during mid-winter break in February. Team gymnasts will be coaching the younger children. Money raised will go towards future team equipment costs. All gymnasts are expected to help at the clinic.

  • Home Meets—Parent volunteers will be needed! (flash scores, timers, work the scores tables, awards, set-up, clean-up, etc.)

  • Gymnasts must purchase the required competition leotard which is approximately $140 dollars…..we will do our best to keep the costs down but gymnastics leotards are custom made and are expensive.

  • Spirit Wear Order Forms will be handed out at the beginning of the season for sweatshirts, t-shirts, or sweats. Parents may also order if wanted. These items are optional to purchase!

North Thurston~River Ridge~Timberline

The 2018-2019 gymnastics season is coming!

We will compete against other area high schools and have the opportunity to qualify for District Meets and perhaps even the State Meet in the Tacoma Dome in February. During the regular season we will compete together as one team (RRHS, THS, NTHS), but as gymnasts qualify for Districts or State later in the season, they will represent their own individual schools.

**First Day of Practice will be November 12th, 2018**

If you are interested please turn your paperwork into your school ASB office before the first day of practice! You may not workout until all required paperwork is turned in! The first day of practice will be held from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Black Hills Gymnastics Center located at 7961 A 29th Avenue NE Lacey, WA 98516. Assigned teams (JV or Varsity) will be announced after the first week of practice.

Practice Schedule:

Monday 7:30-9:30pm

Tuesday 7:30-9:30pm

Wednesday 7:30-9:30pm

Thursday 7:30-9:30pm

Friday 7:30-9:30pm

After the first 3 weeks, Varsity will practice 4 times/week and JV will practice 3 times/week. We will let you know your assigned days later.

**Gymnasts must have a mandatory of 15 practices completed before they are eligible to compete. The first meet is December 7th.**

We will size for uniforms during the first week of practices so it is crucial that you show up! We need to order uniforms ASAP so we get them in time for our first meet in December!

Uniform Costs

  • Warm-ups jackets and backpacks will be issued out to you. They were paid for by the district and will need to be returned at the end of the season.
  • Competition leotards are mandatory for both JV & Varsity and will need to be purchased by each individual for hygiene purposes. They will obviously be yours to keep at the end of the year. They will cost approximately $140 dollars. I will do my best to keep the costs down to a minimum. Money for the leotards will be due during the first week of practice.
  • A “Sports Spirit Pack” will be put together for those who would like to order additional attire like sweatshirts, jackets, sweats, t-shirts, shorts, etc.—you may pick and choose what you’d like to buy. Keep in mind these items are not required!
