5) Whether or not we have sports will depend on which phase we fall in.

  1. At Phase 2 we cannot offer sports. We have been allowed to conduct small pod workouts.
  2. Phase 3 would allow us to offer cross country, golf and tennis.
  3. Phase 4 would allow us to offer most other sports.

i. Football and Wrestling would still be excluded from Phase 4 unless state public health officials determine that we would be safe offering these sports that require close proximity of competitors

Athletics 2020-21

Sep 1, 2020 3:56 PM

Due to COVID-19 Virus, the WIAA has altered sports seasons for the school year 2020-21.

In order for low risk sports to compete we must be in Washington's Phase 3. Moderate Risk Sports can compete when our region is in Phase 4. In order fo r High Risk sports (football, wrestling & competitive cheer) to compete intershcholastically, the Spokane region will need to be well beyond Pahse 4. As of this writing, Washington DOH, OSPI and WIAA have not determined what that is.

In addition, as we have not moved past Phase 2 in the Spokane region, the GSL Directors determined that our league would not participate in any of the fall (Season 1) alternative season.
